Happy Birthday Grandma!

 

Today my grandma celebrates 92 fabulous years! 

Growing up, our house was always stocked with “Grandma’s Favorite” dishcloths made by her. In 1997 I visited her in California for a long weekend so she could teach me to knit using that dishcloth pattern as my starter project. Even as I learn new knit skills, try new patterns and expand my knit horizons I always find comfort in the simple back & forth knit of “Grandma’s Favorite” either as a simple cloth to wash my dishes or on and on to a larger snuggly blanket to wrap a baby in love. In addition to the genes, traits and history I inherited from her I’m so thankful for the gift of knit as well!

    Just brought Gma in to see the blog, she doesn’t understand it but was tickled to see her and the kitty. Thanks for including her and giving her another new experience! Wish you were here to eat cake and ice cream…

    Happy birthday to your sweet grandma!!! I love that knitting is such a connection to our family. I started knitting to learn to make the slippers my grandmother used to knit for us - they are my favorite slippers of any!!! I was cleaning out an old sock basket yesterday, and found one last pair she made that I hadn’t worn holes through yet. I plan to keep them as a special rememberance - and now I can wear ones I’ve made myself.

    I’ve been offline too long and I haven’t had a chance to catch up with everyone. So, while this is late, I’d like to say that your grandmother is SO beautiful and God bless her at age 92! My mother was just shy of 94 when we lost her two years ago, and she really was hoping to make it to age 100, so now I send that hope to your Grandmother. Happy Belated Birthday to her!

    Awww, this is a sweet post. Neither of my Grandma’s knit, but Ryan’s Abuela did, and the blanket she made him is one of his prized possessions.
